FLIP FISHES AT CHEECA
Fishing legend films television program at Cheeca Lodge

ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys – December 2006 – International fishing legend, Flip Pallot, has been filming the inaugural season of his television program, Flip Pallot’s Fishing the Keys, at Cheeca Lodge, a world-renowned sport fishing resort in Islamorada, Florida Keys.  The program, which airs on Versus (formerly known as OLN), will be televised in early 2007.

“I have been familiar with Cheeca Lodge for many years and when the opportunity arose for me to film there, I knew it was something I could not pass up,” states Pallot.  “Cheeca’s location in the ‘Sport Fishing Capital of the World’ makes it ideal for our viewing audience.”  Pallot has been fishing and filming at Cheeca Lodge throughout the past month and loved every minute.  “I especially enjoy meeting with the anglers staying at the resort,” he notes.  “We share ‘local knowledge’ and I am delighted to offer pointers and recommendations in order to maximize the rewards of their fishing experience.”

Flip grew up fishing in South Florida and the Florida Keys at a time when light tackle saltwater fishing was just getting started.  Through the intervening years, fishing has not only been his passion but also became his livelihood.  After serving in the Peace Corps, his early career as a commercial banker was replaced by a life of guiding others in the outdoors.  This second career has allowed Flip to make numerous contributions to the outdoors industry serving as a consultant to manufacturers of boats as well as fishing and hunting tackle companies, including big name brands such as Worldwide Sportsman Tackle Co. and Columbia Outdoor Products Co. Along the way, Flip has captured several world records for catches on a fly rod and has been nominated to the 3-M Scientific Anglers Hall of Fame.

Flip's work in outdoor television began with episodes of ABC’s American Sportsman and the Outdoor Life television series, which led him to his own series, The Saltwater Angler, on TBS. After two seasons with The Saltwater Angler, Flip partnered with Sea Lion Productions to launch Walker’s Cay Chronicles which airs on ESPN.  With 143 episodes aired to date, the show has established Pallot as one of the foremost outdoor sports personalities in the industry. World Productions, a subsidiary of World Publications, publishers of Sport Fishing, Marlin and Fly Fishing in Salt Waters magazines, is producing and distributing Flip Pallot’s Fishing the Keys.  The show ispresented by Cheeca Lodge and will air for 13 weeks at 11:30 am on Fridays and 1:30 pm on Saturdays.  The program will debut on Saturday, January 6, 2007.

Cheeca Lodge is situated on 27 beautifully landscaped acres with more than 1200 feet of palm-fringed beach and crystal-clear water. It features 199 luxurious guest rooms and suites, three restaurants, a nine-hole, a nine-hole pitch & putt golf course, a complete tennis program with six courts, two swimming pools and a whirlpool spa. .
